The Department of Persian Language and Literature at Lorestan University is one of the oldest Departments in this university and has a significant number of students in the field of Persian language and literature at undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate level with different courses. The Department currently has 14 full-time faculty members, 196 B.A. students, 101 M.A. students in Resistance Literature, and 31 Ph.D. students in Persian Language and Literature and Theosophical Literature. The department, being aware of the rich legacy of the Iranian language and its literature, aims to offer a perspective for understanding what is expressed in the language and literature of both the past and the present. We offer a curriculum that shows the importance of the universality and national and local qualities of literature in the philosophical, political, and psychological sense. It is also among the primary goals to examine what meaning literature expresses in the light of other disciplines. While the focus in this Department is on Iranian literature, we will also look at other literatures through a comparative approach.
