Beginning of a New Era of Practical Cooperation between Lorestan University and the General Department of Environmental Protection of the Province during Environment Week

In line with commemorating Environment Week, under the slogan "Environmental Protection, National Security," a joint meeting was held between the officials of Lorestan University and the General Department of Environmental Protection of the province, and a memorandum of understanding for scientific, research, educational, and executive cooperation was signed by both parties.

According to the Public Relations of Lorestan University, Dr. Dadastani, the President of Lorestan University, stated in this meeting, held on Tuesday, June 8th, referring to the university's key role in the province's environmental issues, that environmental protection is not a choice but a national necessity, and Lorestan University is committed to playing an effective role in this arena by utilizing its scientific and research capacities.

In this regard, Eng. Kamran Farmanpour, Director General of Environmental Protection of Lorestan, while appreciating the constructive interaction of Lorestan University, emphasized the necessity of utilizing up-to-date knowledge and modern technologies in the management of environment and biodiversity.

It is worth mentioning that during Environment Week, in collaboration with Lorestan University, several scientific and specialized sessions were held, including:

_ A research session focused on by the Research and Technology Vice-Presidency of Lorestan University, aiming to enhance industry-university relations and needs assessment of the province's environmental issues.

_ A session between the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of Lorestan University and the General Department of Environmental Protection, focusing on veterinary services for the natural environment and biodiversity.

_ A virtual session on the importance of environmental protection, organized by the Environmental House of Lorestan University.

_ A specialized session titled "Methods for Damage Assessment and Estimation of Environmental Costs of Development Projects," specifically for the staff and rangers of the General Department of Environmental Protection.

The most important agreements and resolutions of cooperation based on the memorandum of understanding:

_ Introduction and dispatch of two faculty members of Lorestan University for sabbatical leave in the fields of veterinary medicine and artificial intelligence at the General Department of Environmental Protection.

_ Establishment of a Wildlife Museum at Lorestan University and provision of trophies and taxidermy of animal specimens by the Environmental Protection Department.

_ Establishment of an accredited Environmental Laboratory at Lorestan University for conducting specialized tests.

_ Joint pilot implementation of smartening a protected area between the university and the General Department of Environmental Protection.

_ Utilization of tax credits for pollution abatement of several industries identified by the General Department of Environmental Protection.

_ Cooperation in joint research projects and provision of internship opportunities for Lorestan University students in the subordinate departments of the provincial environmental protection.

This memorandum of understanding marks the beginning of a new chapter of cooperation between Lorestan University and the General Department of Environmental Protection of Lorestan in the direction of sustainable development and the protection of the natural resources of the province and the country.

In 1405, Environment Week programs will be held from June 5th to June 11th.
